@Liza - good point. As you saw, I started to realize there at the end that bundles were the way to go, but you put it more eloquently than I.

@Mike - yeah... that's the problem, isn't it. The way our economies are geared we're paid to give people what they want not what they need or should be having. And as far as the burger place goes, that the customer is going to the ER in a couple years is just another externality borne not by the restaurant by by the customer and society.

If you charge less money for more veggies you just induce waste, and if you charge more money for less fried-goodness you just induce a lot of extra transactions. The trick is in bundles. A meal set that is veggie heavy is cheaper whereas a meal set that is fries heavy is more expensive (it's absurd that I have to pay $2 extra nowadays to sub my fries for a mediocre salad). Fear of being categorized as anything swine-like will prevent most from ordering 2 meals to get their fill of extra fries :)

BTW, if you really wanted just one fry, I am sure they would have gladly let you sample :P

Well said, and I couldn't agree more. But let me play devil's advocate... what about "I drove", "I raced", or "I outran"? :)
